Finding Kielder Water Ski Club

We are in Leaplish Waterside Park, on the south side of Kielder Water. Access is round a one way road system to Leaplish facilities. By continuing another 600 metres on the exit road, a car park with lake view is reached, which is the entrance for the Ski Club.

We are about one hour from Newcastle and Carlisle and there is good access from the Scottish borders. A general overview map can be found here. Leaplish waterside park (Kielder Water Ski Club) is easily reached. From the M6, using the A7 to Canonbie, then B6357 to Saughtree, then follow an interesting road to Kielder/Kielder Water. From the A1, follow the A69 to Hexham, then join the A6079 Acomb to Chollerford. Continue on the B6320 to Bellingham, then follow the Kielder Water signs. From Scotland, from Hawick or Jedburgh, identify the route to the B6357 south. Leave it at Saughtree and follow thesigns for Kielder Water.

A more detailed local map can be found here. From either Bellingham or Saughtree, you’ll reach Kielder on the C200 road (Border Forest road). From the south, you come to the dam, then you have about 4 miles to reach Leaplish Waterside Park. From the north, once in Kielder village, it is about 4 miles to Leaplish. Follow the Leaplish access road carefully until you reach the lake complex. The ski club is in the first carpark on the exit road from Leaplish – about 500-600 metres.
